Saiful Islam Khyber, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, stated that the behavior was incompatible with Islamic values and Afghan culture.
The spokesperson also released a video in which one of the young men says he regrets his behavior.
The Taliban is known for detaining people for violating dress codes, with barbers instructed not to trim beards or style hair in ways considered Western.
