Last Rites“, Ozzy Osbourne’s posthumous memoir, was released last Tuesday and reveals the little-known bond between the heavy metal legend and the “Friends” actor.

Osbourne, who passed away in July at the age of 76, wrote in his book about his own battle with drug addiction and mentioned Perry: “Look at that guy from FriendsMatthew Perry. He used to come to our house for AA meetings — or at least that’s what my wife told me.”

Perry battled addiction for decades before dying of a ketamine overdose at 54 in October 2023. According to Osbourne, the actor was “the funniest and most talented guy” and was trying to stay sober.

“Then one day, he heard his addiction tell him it was okay to get high again — and that was it, game over,” the singer wrote.

“I was really sad when they told me he was found in the hot tub, unconscious, with ketamine in his system,” the rocker said. “He did everything he could to stay clean. But it wasn’t enough.”

In “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry’s own memoir published in 2022, the actor also detailed his struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. He shared that he had attended 6,000 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, been in rehab 15 times, and spent about $9 million trying to remain sober.
