The “Dumb and Dumber” star revealed his criteria for choosing which projects he agrees to work on.
“Will this keep me from getting bored halfway through filming? Will the people I’m working with make me better? Is the script good?” he said.
Jeff Daniels explained that he started doing a solo show because he didn’t want to accept projects that didn’t interest him.
He mentioned a role as “a dumb dad on a TV show with some 28-year-old actor making $10 million who can’t remember his lines.”

“I don’t want that job,” emphasized the 70-year-old Daniels. “I’d rather do what I’m doing with my guitar – that’s what truly makes me happy.”
The actor reflected that such choices are easier when you’re financially comfortable.
“But there are also times when you work on something and don’t get paid much, and you still give it your all – whether it’s independent films or theater… money has never motivated me,” he reflected.
Jeff Daniels has been performing his show “Jeff Daniels: Onstage & Unplugged” for 25 years, where he tells behind-the-scenes stories, sings original songs, and plays the acoustic guitar.
One of his songs is about not having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
