Donald Trump once again praised the US and said the country is a “respected” nation after having been a subject of “mockery.” The comment came during a roundtable of the Memphis Safe Task Force in Tennessee on Monday (23).

“Everyone knows we have the largest and most powerful military in the world. We are in a position we haven’t seen before. We are respected,” he began.

“You know, our country is now respected all over the world. A year and a half ago we were a laughingstock. We were a laughingstock. The King of Saudi Arabia told me that,” the president said, referring to the monarch.

Despite Donald Trump’s positive view of his own country, many internet users said the Republican did the opposite.

“‘Respected’ is not exactly the word the world had in mind,” one wrote on X. One user said the US has become a “pariah” under Trump’s leadership.

“Trump in a parallel universe. The EU, the Japanese, Canada and Latin America are horrified,” another noted.
