Alan Hamel, the widower of Suzanne Somers, has revealed that he is trying to recreate his wife through artificial intelligence — an idea she herself suggested before her passing in 2023.

In an interview with People, the 89-year-old Hamel said that it was his wife who taught him about AI. The couple had been together for 55 years until the actress’s death, and now the former producer has begun putting into practice the plans the two had discussed for decades.

“Obviously, Suzanne was very loved, not only by her family but by millions of people,” he said. “One of the projects we have underway is truly fascinating: the Suzanne AI Twin.”

According to Hamel, who presented a demo version of the project at a conference earlier this year, the AI robot was not just designed to look like the “Three’s Company” star, but was trained on all 27 of the actress’s books as well as hundreds of interviews she gave throughout her career.

Hamel admitted that it was “a little strange” to talk to the AI version of Somers for the first time. But over time, he “forgot he was talking to a robot” and got used to it.

“It was Suzanne. I asked her a few questions, and she answered — I was impressed, as was everyone else,” he continued. “When you look at the finished Suzanne next to the real Suzanne, you can’t tell the difference. It’s incredible.”

“I was with Suzanne for 55 years, so I know her face very well — and when I look at the two side by side, I honestly can’t tell which one is real and which one is AI.”

The former producer hopes that fans of the actress will be able to have the same experience he did and plans to share the AI version online, where fans can “come and just spend some time with her.”

Suzanne Somers passed away after a long battle with breast cancer on October 15, 2023, one day before her 77th birthday.
