A Hollywood agent caught the attention of internet users by continuing to eat during the shooting that took place at a dinner with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Michael Glantz, one of Hollywood’s leading agents, was filmed by CNN calmly eating his burrata salad, even as people around him threw themselves to the ground and hid under tables. Because of his enviable calmness, he earned a new nickname: the salad man.
“I’m a New Yorker. We live with sirens and constant movement. I wasn’t scared. There were hundreds of Secret Service agents diving over tables and chairs, and I wanted to watch,” he told The New York Times after the incident.
He was also asked why he didn’t try to protect himself like the other guests at the event, to which he replied: “First of all, I have back pain. I couldn’t lie on the floor, and if I could, they would have had to bring people to help me get up.”
“And I’m a hygiene freak. There was no way I was going to lie down in my new tuxedo on the dirty floor of the Hilton. That wasn’t going to happen,” Glantz added.
The shooting took place during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on the evening of April 25, 2026. The suspect has not been officially identified by authorities, but a federal law enforcement officer told USA TODAY that the suspect’s identity is Cole Tomas Allen.

Shout out to THIS guy who decided to take a spoonful of his mashed potatoes while ducking and covering after tonight’s WHCD shooting. No way he was passing up on that free food, even with Secret Service having their guns drawn out. 🙌 😂 pic.twitter.com/T14TxvOllC
