The incident happened while the journalist was preparing for her live entry on the program Balanço Geral. Casadei was in front of the Provisional Detention Center IV, in the Pinheiros neighborhood.

Just before appearing live on the news, a man rode by on a bicycle, snatched the phone from her hand, and left. According to host Willian Leite, the journalist is fine.

After the robbery, she filed a police report at the 91st Police Precinct. According to Rafael Ferrari, the suspect had already been circling the area before the assault happened.

“The guys had been here for quite some time, but they were well dressed. Our team even caught them, from a distance, watching us,” reported the journalist.

“Beatriz […] had the phone in her hand. It was to read the information, the exact data, so of course, she wouldn’t give any wrong information on air.”

“They had already passed by, and we even warned each other here. We said: ‘Look, stay alert.’ And we put our phones away,” Ferrari recounted.
