A man sued Gwyneth Paltrow for $3 million in 2016, and the actress sued him back with a symbolic lawsuit for just $1. She spoke out years after the incident.
During her appearance on the podcast “The World’s First Podcast,” Gwyneth Paltrow discussed when she was sued for $3 million after being hit by a man named Terry Sanderson at a ski resort.
She was outraged that she was hit and then sued.
“I thought, ‘This is everything that’s wrong with our judicial system.’ It was ridiculous. That’s why I felt I had to fight. I thought, ‘I’m not going to be extorted here. I’m not going to accept this,’” she vented to hosts Erin and Sara Foster.
Sanderson claimed that Gwyneth Paltrow hit him and caused a series of injuries, including four broken ribs, a concussion, and brain damage.

However, Paltrow’s lawyers found that it was he who collided with her, and that 15 of his medical conditions already existed before the accident.
The jury ruled in favor of the actress, stating that she was not at fault for the accident. Sanderson was forced to pay a symbolic $1, in addition to Gwyneth Paltrow’s legal costs.
“I felt that accepting a false accusation would compromise my integrity. I am pleased with the outcome and thank Judge Holmberg and the jury for the seriousness with which they handled this case,” she celebrated.
Sanderson admitted that the lawsuit wasn’t worth it.
