A new “trailer” for a supposed Forrest Gump sequel set for 2025 introduces Timothée Chalamet as the son of the character played by Tom Hanks.

Although the film is considered one of Tom Hanks’ best, a second film was never really considered, according to Variety. For this reason, fans of the movie decided to create a “trailer” to inspire a sequel.

The trailer, made by fans using video editing and artificial intelligence, reflects a longtime wish of those passionate about the 1994 film, which is to see Forrest Gump Jr., the son of Hanks’ character, growing up in the 2000s.

In the video, Forrest Gump Jr., played by actor Timothée Chalamet, is seen standing by his mother’s grave. The trailer also shows him struggling to find his place in the world, much like his father did in the original movie.

Including some AI-generated jokes between the two, as well as emotional reflections from Chalamet’s character about how intelligent his father truly was, the one-minute trailer was posted on YouTube in July and has already garnered over 1.7 million views.

“Honestly… this concept would actually be really good,” said a YouTube user in the video’s comments. “A smart son who finds inspiration in his father’s simple outlook on life,” commented another. “What’s crazy is that this could literally be its own movie without the title Forrest Gump,” analyzed a third.
