“The Paper” is the new mockumentary series set in “The Office” universe. The streaming service has announced that the first season will be released in September 2025.
While the original series took place in Scranton, Pennsylvania, “The Paper” will be set in Toledo, Ohio, another state in the USA.
The series is produced by the creator of “The Office,” Greg Daniels, alongside Michael Koman from “Nathan For You.”
According to a press release from Peacock, the documentary crew will follow the decaying newsroom of the local newspaper “The Truth Teller” and its “enthusiastic editor trying to revive it.”
Domhnall Gleeson from “About Time” and “Black Mirror,” and Sabrina Impacciatore from “The White Lotus” are the two big new names in the series.
From the original cast, Oscar Nunez returns in “The Paper,” but it is still unclear which other characters will appear during the season.
The series was announced during an annual presentation in New York where major production companies reveal new projects to attract advertisers.
Gleeson, Nunez, and Impacciatore took the stage during the event and showed a clip from “The Paper,” which Gleeson described as a group of “underdog characters coming together to keep journalism alive.”
