The voice and likeness of the Marvel Comics icon are being recreated by an artificial intelligence company and may be used commercially.
ElevenLabs, an AI audio company, announced this week that Stan Lee’s voice and image have been added to its catalog, which already includes other recognizable voices and faces such as Judy Garland, David Hasselhoff, and Maya Angelou.
Generated from historical recordings, the voice of the Marvel legend will be available through the ElevenLabs Iconic Voice Marketplace, while his likeness will be featured in the ElevenLabs Image & Video Marketplace, where users can license a version of him to create editorial and commercial content.
The company shared an AI-generated video on Instagram, featuring Lee’s voice narrating the visuals: “You know what they never tell you about legends? They outlive the pages. A good story doesn’t belong to a single moment. It grows. It changes. It gets passed down from generation to generation, constantly evolving.”

According to Chaz Rainey of Stan Lee Universe, Stan would certainly have approved of the partnership. “Stan always believed in meeting fans where they were — on the pages of a comic book, at a convention, or in a quick cameo appearance on screen,” he said in a statement.
“This partnership is a way to continue that legacy. Fans have always told us that when they read his comics, they hear the words in Stan’s voice, and now, thanks to ElevenLabs, we can make that a reality.”
Lee was an American writer, editor, and entrepreneur who revolutionized the comic book industry by transforming Marvel Comics into a global multimedia empire. He passed away in November 2018 at the age of 95.
