At a panel during New York Comic Con on Friday (10), Sigourney Weaver spoke about the tension between the “Alien” crew and the director of the franchise’s second film.

“What I remember is that they really loved Ridley, and they wanted Ridley to direct this second film,” explained the “Avatar” star.

“They didn’t know who Jim Cameron was. I really didn’t know who he was. I just thought he had written a great script,” Weaver said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The actress revealed that James Cameron would organize film screenings and no one from the crew would show up. “So, they really had an attitude,” she said. “And it really took a while [for them to get along], actually.”

Sigourney Weaver tried to ease the tensions between both sides. She says she praised James Cameron’s work to the crew.

On set, she would tell them: “Look, I also love Ridley, but this guy wrote this and The Terminator, and he knows what he’s doing. He’s a natural talent.”

The crew was eventually won over by James Cameron’s directing skills. “And in the end, of course, they were totally devoted to him,” she concluded.

Sigourney Weaver and James Cameron later reunited for the Avatar franchise — she initially portrayed Dr. Grace Augustine in the 2009 film and Kiri in its 2022 sequel. She is set to star again in Avatar: Fire and Ash.
