The actress revealed in an interview with Business Insider that the actor didn’t want to audition with her because of their argument. Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas starred together in the 1992 classic.

According to her, the fight began in Cannes when Stone defended a friend who was being criticized by Douglas.

“I knew that person he was talking about very well. So I said something, and he responded, ‘What the hell do you know?’ It was about a father-son relationship,” the actress commented, adding that Douglas yelled at her in front of everyone.

“I’m not the type to say, ‘Oh, excuse me, superstar,’” she recalled. “I pushed my chair back and said to him, ‘Let’s go outside.’ That’s how we met,” Sharon Stone said.

She explained that she was best friends with the family Michael Douglas was talking about. They parted “on friendly terms,” but it did affect her view of the actor.

“As time went on, when they started casting ‘Basic Instinct,’ I don’t think he wanted me to be his co-star,” she revealed.

Sharon Stone says she doesn’t regret the confrontation and believes it actually helped her during filming.

“I wasn’t shaken if he yelled at me. It was interesting for the dynamics of the characters because Michael has a strong temper, and I didn’t care,” she noted.

“It worked really well between the two of us. Eventually, we became great friends, and I have a huge admiration for him,” she added.
