Although Donald Trump previously said he would not attend Super Bowl LX due to the distance, Seth Meyers believes the U.S. president has another reason for missing the final.

“Given Trump’s love of football and attention, you might expect him to show up at the Super Bowl on Sunday, especially since he attended last year’s Super Bowl,” the host noted in his monologue.

The final between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots will be held at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco. Trump said he would go “if it were closer” and acknowledged receiving “big applause.”

“Too far? You know you have your own plane, right? Like, we weren’t expecting you to squeeze into a van with Eric, Don Jr., and Melania,” Meyers joked.

The host pointed out that Trump has made longer trips before, such as to countries in the Middle East and Asia.

“I wonder if it’s because there’s another reason why he might not want to go to a football game in the current political climate,” he commented.

Meyers then showed a clip from the broadcast of the game between the Lions and the Commanders at Northwest Stadium in Maryland in November 2025, where Trump was heavily booed.

“Of course, Trump is worried about being booed,” he explained. “His approval ratings are at historic lows, and his party is getting crushed everywhere.”
