In 2013, Gellar starred in the CBS sitcom “The Crazy Ones” alongside Robin Williams, and the following year the actor died by suicide at the age of 63. According to the actress, the loss of her colleague had a profound impact on her life and led her to a series of personal reflections.
“I started filming ‘The Crazy Ones’ when my son was three months old,” Gellar explained during an interview on the Shut Up Evan podcast. “I was breastfeeding all the time, and then Robin passed away and it all kind of hit me. It was as if postpartum depression had hit me. And that loss was so great that I felt a little lost for the first time in my life.”
“And I thought that maybe this was a sign that I wasn’t living in the present enough, because things can end very quickly. And at that moment, I simply said that I needed to take a break.”

Gellar, who will soon reprise her iconic role as Buffy Summers in a new Hulu series, believes that acting is now easier since her children are older.
“I think I’m finally getting my rhythm back and feeling ready to work now that my children are older,” she explained.
