The 29-year-old actress went viral on social media after joking about the situation in a TikTok video. “No legs, who cares? #paralympics2026,” Ruth Codd wrote on her profile.

The “Celebrity Traitors” star decided to amputate her second leg because she had already removed all of her toes after her joints were “destroyed” by years of intense crutch use.

“It’s just that this foot… I was on crutches for almost eight years, and the way I used them meant I was always kind of on my tiptoes, so the joints in my foot were completely destroyed after those eight years,” Ruth Codd explained.

The “Fall of the House Usher” star had her first leg amputated six years ago after suffering agonizing pain from a football injury at age 15 — an injury that never healed properly.

She began the TikTok video saying she had good news and that she would return to creating content for the platform, but lamented that she could no longer go upstairs.

“I just had my second below-the-knee amputation. So unfortunately, certain spaces aren’t accessible to me at the moment. There’s a lot for everyone involved to process,” Ruth Codd said.

In a statement to the Irish Examiner, she said she had been “stuck in a really bad mindset and angry at life.”

“It took eight years of my life, going in and out of the hospital all the time. When I made the decision to have it amputated, things finally started to improve. It was a relief. I was able to get on with my life,” she said.
