According to a profile on X, actress Ayo Edebiri, Emmy winner for the series ‘The Bear’, is reportedly in consideration to be the lead in the successful franchise ‘ Pirates of the Caribbean‘.
Questions about the future of the franchise arose after Disney refused to work with Johnny Depp, following allegations of assault against his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
Depp stated he would no longer portray Captain Jack Sparrow. The actor commented he was hurt by the way Disney dismissed him. A friend of Depp told Daily Mail that he is now “focused on personal projects that allow his authentic expression through art and music”.

The franchise now plans to continue under the direction of Margot Robbie, although the actress has indicated that Disney has canceled the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. However, one of the franchise’s producers, Jerry Bruckheimer, told The Sun in 2022 that Robbie’s film “is alive for him and for Disney”.
The idea of a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film starring a woman is being discussed on social media. Owner of X, Elon Musk, doesn’t seem too enthusiastic about the proposal and commented “Disney sucks” about the rumor.
