Australian reporter Danika Mason apologized for having drunk alcohol before going live on television while covering the Winter Olympics.
Mason went viral after speaking in a slow and slurred manner and even comparing her co-host to a “frozen iguana” during a live segment on Wednesday (18).
The reporter said she “misjudged the situation.” “I want to take full responsibility — this is not the standard I set for myself,” she said, adding that the altitude, the cold, and the fact that she “had not eaten” contributed to the embarrassing moment.
She was standing outside on the street in the middle of a storm when she began stumbling over her words.
“The price of coffee here is actually pretty good… in fact, it’s the price of coffee in the U.S. that we need to get used to… I’m not sure about the iguanas?” she said drunkenly.

“Where are we even going with this? Anyway, let’s get to today’s sports because there’s a lot going on back home,” she continued. At one point in the video, she lay down on the ground to make “snow angels.”
Today show host Jenny Azzopardi joked that she knew Danika Mason “works hard.” The reporter has been part of the Winter Games coverage since the start of the competition.
