Rebecca Gayheart, 51, celebrated the 16th birthday of Billie, her eldest daughter from her marriage to the late actor Eric Dane.

Gayheart shared a series of photos of Billie throughout the years. The post featured the song Landslide by the band Fleetwood Mac and You Are My Sunshine, a cover by Kina Grannis, as the soundtrack.

“Happy 16th birthday to the sweetest girl — mommy loves you to the moon and back unconditionally forever,” the actress wrote in the stories on her Instagram profile last Tuesday (3).

Eric Dane died on February 19 at the age of 53 after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He became known for his roles as Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, as well as for his work on the HBO series Euphoria.

Dane and Gayheart married in 2004 before welcoming their daughters Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14. Gayheart filed for divorce from Dane in 2018, but the actress asked to dismiss the case in 2025, shortly before Dane announced his ALS diagnosis.

Gayheart spoke about how Dane’s diagnosis affected their daughters in an article she wrote for The Cut in December last year. “It’s such a formative time in their lives. They are trying to figure out who they are while having to deal with this really enormous loss and anticipatory grief.”

“No matter how prepared you are, or how much I prepare the girls, or how much Eric prepares himself, he will wake up one morning and there is something else that is an obstacle, or he has lost the ability to do one more thing — it just appears out of nowhere. It is a terrible, terrible disease,” Gayheart wrote.
