The TLC program “Take My Tumour” features Charmaine Sahadeo, a 42-year-old woman from Trinidad and Tobago with an extremely rare case of syndrome caused by a genetic mutation.

The series Take My Tumor on TLC showcases the life of Charmaine Sahadeo, 42, a woman from Trinidad and Tobago, who is battling an extremely rare syndrome caused by a genetic mutation.

The disease in question is a rare case of NF-1 neurofibromatosis and is incurable. According to Mirror, Sahadeo has tumors all over her body: arms, legs, face, and even in intimate areas.

The tumors are so large that they create difficulty for her to breathe normally. According to the site, Sahadeo’s greatest fear is dying alone without being able to ask for help. She is a mother of two children.

“All the swellings are getting so big. I’m afraid that if I can’t breathe properly, I will die,” she said.

In the latest episode of the series, she tells that she traveled to Los Angeles to meet Dr. Ryan Osborne, a head and neck cancer surgeon, head of the Osborne Head and Neck Institute.

Osborne managed to remove the larger tumors on the leg and in the mouth, but there is still much to be done.

The process of removing the tumors had to be done partially, as there were so many spread across Sahadeo’s body that the doctors couldn’t apply general anesthesia.

She will have to undergo more than two months of surgery. She, however, says her life has already significantly improved. “I feel beautiful. I really feel beautiful now. I feel fantastic. I came back a different person. I couldn’t wish for anything better”.
