Officers stormed the location in Enderby, Leicestershire, England, last Sunday (February 11), after a witness reported seeing a man wielding a knife near the elevators.
However, the police quickly realized that the supposedly offensive item was just a magical wand from the popular franchise.
The incident left officers from the Blaby Police in shock, who then used Facebook to share the incident, joking that “there was no sign of Voldemort.”
“I attended a large hotel in Enderby this morning with a number of firearms officers, following a report of a man inside, near the lifts, carrying ‘a large knife’,” wrote Officer Ward.
“Following enquiries, we quickly established that it was a Harry Potter fan with a wand. Thankfully, no harm was caused to any resident, and there was no sign of Voldemort,” he joked afterward.
In the comments, internet users amused themselves with the unusual situation. “I need to be more careful when I go out with my wands in future,” said one Facebook user. “So many missed opportunities for Harry Potter puns,” joked another.
