Adam Devine, best known for his roles in Modern Family, Pitch Perfect, and as co-creator of the series Workaholics, has shared emotional details about a silent struggle he’s been facing for years: chronic pain caused by a serious childhood accident.
In an interview on the podcast In Depth with Graham Bensinger, Devine revealed that at age 11, he was hit by a cement truck while crossing the street with friends after buying candy. Since then, he has lived with constant pain and spasms throughout his body.

“I have spasms all over my body and feel pain when sitting, standing, or walking for too long,” the actor revealed.
In a particularly distressing moment, doctors gave him an alarming diagnosis: stiff-person syndrome — a rare and progressive condition that can lead to death by paralyzing the muscles, including the heart.
“They told me I was dying. Literally. They said my muscles would get so tight that my heart would no longer be able to beat,” Devine said.
However, a surprising turn came when another specialist offered a different perspective, attributing the symptoms to the trauma from his childhood accident.

After beginning stem cell treatment, the actor said he feels better than he has in years.
Adam Devine had previously spoken publicly about the accident, but this was the first time he shared such deep details about its lasting impact on his health.
