When asked about the killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good, Melania Trump called for “unity” among the American people. The question arose while she was promoting the film “Melania”, which hits theaters on Friday (30).

The first lady also reported that Donald Trump had “a very good conversation” with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey on Monday (26).

“They are working together to ensure that everything remains peaceful and without unrest,” said Melania Trump.

“I am against violence, so please, if you protest, protest peacefully,” she advised. “We need to come together in these times.”

The first lady’s call for peace contrasts with the statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), issued shortly after Pretti’s death.

The statement published on the DHS X profile claimed that he had “approached U.S. Border Patrol agents with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol” and had “violently resisted” an attempt to disarm him.

The video that captured Pretti’s killing, however, shows him being subdued by several ICE agents while holding only a mobile phone in his hands. The agents fired ten shots while the 37-year-old nurse was lying on the ground.
