Meghan Markle allegedly turned down former ESPN host Ryen Russillo, who claimed he thought it would be “easy” to win her over.

During an appearance on the The Bill Simmons Podcast last week, the host recounted meeting the now Duchess of Sussex at a celebrity football game in February 2014.

“It was all the swimsuit models [from Sports Illustrated]. So, no one was really paying attention to Markle,” he recalled during the chat.

“I was like: ‘This is my chance. She’s probably doubting herself a little bit right now.’ She was never this easy,” added Russillo, 49.

Unfortunately for him, he didn’t succeed. Later, he slid into her DMs to invite her to appear on his sports show, The Ryan Russillo Show, which was planning a special for the fourth season of Suits.

“It was a very soft sell. It was [like]: ‘Hey, I know the new season… is coming out. If you’d like to come on the show to promote it.’ It was very professional,” Russillo explained.

Unfortunately for him again, Markle didn’t take the bait. “She was cold as ice. She said: ‘Oh, I don’t know anything about sports, but thank you for the offer,'” the host recalled her response.

Markle starred as Rachel Zane in seven seasons of Suits from 2011 to 2018. The Duchess left the successful series before marrying Prince Harry in May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel in London.
