Matthew Fox, who became world-famous for playing Dr. Jack Shepard in “Lost”, left his television career in 2015 and swapped his home in Los Angeles to live in the European country.

For Fox, who starred in the series from 2004 to 2010 and later took on a few film roles, focusing on his career meant that time with his family ended up taking a back seat, and he felt he needed to be more present for his children, who were entering adolescence.

“I spent a lot of time there, over a number of years, in the spotlight, mostly because of Lost, and then I did some films,” Fox said. “For me, stepping away was really about spending time with my family,” he told People magazine.

The 59-year-old actor, who has two children with his wife, Margherita Ronchi, explained that he and his wife felt the move abroad would be good for their daughter Kyle and son Byron.

“Our daughter was entering her teenage years, and I was on film sets and traveling a lot to promote Lost. Margherita and I felt it was a great time to really focus on our kids, who were going through adolescence, which is always a challenge,” he told the publication.

“When you’re in this business, I think it’s really good to create a space where you feel like you’re living life. I think that fuels the work you do when you come back and take on a show.”

Matthew Fox can currently be seen in “The Madison”, the Paramount+ drama series starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, which premiered in March of this year.
