Matt Damon spoke about his longtime friendship with Ben Affleck during an interview promoting The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s new film in which he plays the lead character, Odysseus.
The two actors met as children in Boston and built one of Hollywood’s best-known friendships.
During the interview with MTV UK last Wednesday (16), Damon said he was particularly moved by Affleck’s reaction after watching The Odyssey.
According to him, his friend called after seeing the film and spent about an hour discussing details of the production.
“It was as if he had seen the film 20 times. He understood absolutely everything. Every detail. Somehow, he absorbed it all in one viewing,” the actor said.
Damon highlighted that their friendship has survived changes in their careers and personal lives, saying that they have gone through many experiences together over the course of a relationship that has lasted around 45 years.
“We have been through a lot together, and he is one of the great loves of my life,” Damon said.
