After the kidnapping of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro on January 3, María Corina Machado said she was satisfied with his capture.
“It is a milestone, and it is not only huge for the Venezuelan people and our future; I believe it is a great step for humanity, for freedom, and for human dignity,” she said on Monday (5).
Sean Hannity of Fox News asked the Nobel Peace Prize winner whether she would give the prize to Trump after the recent events. Machado replied:
“Well, that hasn’t happened yet, but I would certainly love to personally tell him that we believe the Venezuelan people, because this is a prize from the Venezuelan people, certainly want to give it to him and share it with him.”
Donald Trump had previously publicly stated that he believed he deserved the prize. Recently, he was caught complaining to Benjamin Netanyahu that he would never receive a Nobel Peace Prize.
“They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me.”
María Corina Machado served as a deputy in Venezuela’s National Assembly from 2011 to 2014. She has recently gained support from the United States for being a strong opponent of Nicolás Maduro’s government.
