Dean Fleischer Camp, director of the live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch,” commented in a TikTok video about the absence of a classic scene from the original 2002 animation, leaving fans disappointed.

Camp was asked by “Lilo & Stitch” fans about the change in Pleakley’s disguise in the upcoming live-action version set to hit theaters on May 23. His response left many users feeling let down.

In the original 2002 animation, the alien Pleakley is sent with Dr. Jumba Jookiba to retrieve Stitch, who has escaped to Earth. Upon arrival, the two disguise themselves in human clothing, making for humorous and memorable scenes.

However, in the trailer for the 2025 remake, Pleakley is seen using a holographic disguise to transform into a human man.

This change did not sit well with fans, as in the animation the alien agent famously wore dresses and wigs that matched his body type and quirky personality.

Responding to the comments, the “Lilo & Stitch” director expressed his regret over the missing look. “And I just want to say: I tried… I tried,” he said, frustrated, while showing sketches of the character in the original outfit.

“‘I tried,’ y’all — look at this man. Do you really think he’s against Pleakley in a wig and dress? Disney clearly had a say in this, especially in today’s political climate,” one fan commented.

“Disney is cowardly if they don’t include Pleakley in a dress and wig. It’s unbelievable that a film made 20 years ago was more inclusive than what we’re getting now,” added another.
