Before the broadcast cut away, Wright can be heard asking if Laura Woods was okay. After a commercial break, the presenter was replaced by swimmer Katie Shanahan.

Shanahan explained that her colleague had become unwell. “But she is in very good hands, so I’m stepping in at the last minute,” she continued.

“Sorry for worrying everyone, I’m okay. The wonderful paramedics from Saints said it’s probably a virus. I just need some rest and rehydration,” she said.

“I’m really embarrassed that this happened on TV, but a huge thank you to my colleagues at ITV, who really took care of me tonight,” said Laura Woods, thanking Wright and Neets.
