Presenter and football commentator Laura Woods worried viewers after fainting while discussing the England women’s national team’s friendly match against Ghana on Tuesday (2).
She was standing next to Anita Asante and Ian Wright analysing the match at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton when she stumbled forward and fell.
Before the broadcast cut away, Wright can be heard asking if Laura Woods was okay. After a commercial break, the presenter was replaced by swimmer Katie Shanahan.
Shanahan explained that her colleague had become unwell. “But she is in very good hands, so I’m stepping in at the last minute,” she continued.
Laura Woods’ fiancé, Adam Collard, shared on X, formerly Twitter, a message reassuring fans about her condition. “Laura is okay and with the right people. Thank you for all the kind messages,” he wrote.
Woods said on her Instagram that she was also fine.
“Sorry for worrying everyone, I’m okay. The wonderful paramedics from Saints said it’s probably a virus. I just need some rest and rehydration,” she said.
“I’m really embarrassed that this happened on TV, but a huge thank you to my colleagues at ITV, who really took care of me tonight,” said Laura Woods, thanking Wright and Neets.
