“Jonathan and I were unarmed. We weren’t threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired, Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life,” he wrote.

Kern de Gonzales stated that the shooter shouted “homophobic slurs” at him and his husband. “Then he lifted a gun from his lap and fired.”

The San Antonio Police Department said they found no evidence that the actor’s murder was related to a hate crime.
