Actor John Lithgow reflected on his participation in the cast of the “Harry Potter” reboot in a new documentary that analyzes the highly anticipated HBO series.
Lithgow, 80, who will take on the role of Albus Dumbledore, revealed that it was difficult to accept being part of the television version of the famous film franchise and spoke about the challenges of playing one of the most beloved characters in “Harry Potter” at his age.
“I knew that while working on the first season of Harry Potter, I would turn 80,” he explained. “That meant I would be around 88 years old before everything was finished.”
“It’s something extremely difficult to contemplate,” the actor says in his interview in the documentary “Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic”. “They will grow into it. And I will grow older along with them.”
The new “Harry Potter” series is set to premiere on December 25, 2026. Last week, HBO released the first trailer for the show, and the video reached more than 270 million views within its first 48 hours online.
