A joke that host Jimmy Kimmel made about former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has resurfaced after the politician was rushed to the hospital last weekend.
Kimmel spoke about Giuliani during the Tuesday (28) monologue of his show Jimmy Kimmel Live, after the former mayor commented on the drama involving the host and the Trump family following a joke made about Melania having the “glow of a future widow” days before the attempted assassination of Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington, D.C.
“So, last night, America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, rose from the grave to weigh in on the ongoing drama involving me,” the host said during the monologue, before showing a clip of Giuliani talking about him on his podcast.
At the time, the former mayor called Kimmel “one of the most unpleasant human beings in this country.” “I have to say, it hurts to be called unpleasant by a man who farted in his own pants in front of Borat’s daughter,” Kimmel joked before continuing to react to the video.
“Kimmel was pretending he was hosting the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which I think he did once, I don’t know. Probably once […] and probably about four people watched, and he bombed as usual. This is supposed to be a comedian. He’s also like an incompetent jerk,” Giuliani also said.
“I have to say, it’s confusing to be called an ‘incompetent jerk’ by a man who accidentally held a press conference outside a [toy] store, who doesn’t seem to have any understanding of when videos are playing and when they aren’t, and has a gallon of squid ink dripping from the top of his head,” Kimmel fired back.
“Does this man have any family member who can come pick him up?” the host remarked. Five days later, on Sunday (3), Giuliani was rushed to the hospital in a condition described as “critical” but “stable.”
