Amidst the seventh and final season of “Young Sheldon”, fans on social media have been requesting Michael Keaton join the franchise to take on the role of Sheldon Cooper as an older man in a possible spin-off.
Parsons, who portrayed the iconic character in “The Big Bang Theory,” also served as an executive producer and narrator for the series “Young Sheldon”, which followed Cooper’s life as a nine-year-old prodigy to his teenage years; on “The Tonight Show” he told Jimmy Fallon what he thinks about Keaton in the role of an older Sheldon.
“It’s interesting. There’s definitely a resemblance,” he said upon seeing a photo of himself, Keaton, and “Young Sheldon” star Iain Armitage; despite fan requests, Parsons acknowledged the likelihood of a Keaton-led spin-off would be nearly zero: “Let me tell you one thing: I doubt it’ll happen,” he revealed. “But I would be very excited if Michael Keaton were added to the lineup of Sheldon portrayals. I’d be surprised.”
Last month, it was announced that Parsons and actress Mayim Bialik, will reprise their roles in “Big Bang Theory” in the finale of “Young Sheldon”, expected to conclude in May.
