The 48-year-old actor, who is battling stage 3 colorectal cancer, is selling both signed and unsigned T-shirts that replicate the ones he wore in the 1999 sports film.

In a video posted on Instagram, the Dawson’s Creek star appears wearing a shirt with the name Moxon, his character in “Varsity Blues“, and talks about the uniform.

“By public request! My favorite jersey,” Van Der Beek wrote in the caption. “Maybe it was the rehearsed plays we’d run during away games… but I always loved wearing the white home-team uniform.”

The actor explained that the idea came after seeing the response to last year’s T-shirt release celebrating the film’s 25th anniversary. “I was blown away by the love and support I received from all of you. It meant more to me than I will ever be able to express.”

“For me, every shirt I sign is a magical moment that completes a full circle,” he wrote. “Thank you — for the love, the prayers, the support, and for making this jersey mean something far greater than just a movie. Forever grateful.”

The father of six also shared that the money raised will not only support his own cancer treatment but will also help other families facing similar challenges.
