In an interview with Haute Living magazine, Jackie Chan shared more details about the future of his career. The actor is known for doing his own action scenes.

While promoting his new production “Karate Kid: Legends”, Jackie Chan took the opportunity to talk about his eventual retirement. At 71 years old, he continues to perform his own action scenes.

“Of course I always do my own stunts. It’s who I am,” he insisted. “That won’t change until the day I retire — which is never going to happen!” he told Haute Living.

He confessed that he no longer does any physical preparation for his work after 64 years of acting that way nonstop. “Everything is in the heart and soul; it’s muscle memory.”

Jackie Chan compared action scenes from the 1960s to those made today in Hollywood films.

“Back then, the only way was to be there and jump; that was it. Today, with computers, actors can do anything, but there’s always a sense of reality that’s missing,” Chan explained.

He believes that technological advances have brought both benefits and drawbacks to choreography.

“On one hand, actors become more and more capable of doing impossible stunts with the help of technology, but on the other, the concept of danger and limits gets distorted and the audience becomes desensitized,” he observed.

In his latest work, Jackie Chan returns as Mr. Han in the new “Karate Kid” movie, which hits U.S. theaters on May 30.

Still doing his own action sequences, he will join Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso to train a young man to compete in a martial arts tournament.
