New information about the final months of Daveigh Chase‘s life has revealed the difficulties faced by the former child actress before her death at the age of 35.
A video obtained by The New York Post and reported by the website Page Six shows Chase living in poor conditions in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles months before she died.
According to the report, footage recorded in late 2025 shows the actress extremely thin and apparently weakened inside a makeshift tent or trailer. Chase’s longtime manager, John Ryan, said that he and family members had been trying to locate her with the help of a private investigator in order to convince her to seek treatment.
Ryan said he managed to speak with the actress by phone after becoming aware of the video and planned to help her recover before taking her to a rehabilitation clinic in Costa Rica. However, according to him, Chase disappeared again before the rescue could be carried out.
Known for voicing the character Lilo in Lilo & Stitch and for playing Samara in The Ring, Chase died on June 16 after complications caused by meningitis and a blood infection that developed into sepsis. Reports indicate that she had previously been hospitalized due to malnutrition.
After the news was released, fans began paying tribute to the actress on social media, remembering her performances in productions such as Donnie Darko and for voicing the character Chihiro in the Studio Ghibli animated film Spirited Away.
