“I didn’t know it had happened, we were both taking hits during that fight,” said Dolph Lundgren.
“We filmed for two weeks in Vancouver, and I went back to Los Angeles… the producer called and said: ‘Hey, Dolph, you’ve got two weeks off.’ I said: ‘Great, what’s going on?’ ‘Sly is in the hospital.’ That’s how I found out.”
The Swedish actor played the Russian fighter Ivan Drago in the Rocky franchise. He said he was caught off guard by the news and felt “guilty.”

“He was the boss, I did what he told me, which was fine. Going all in on the body, you know, those Russian uppercuts. I don’t know if it was my body, exhaustion or my punches, I don’t know, but he really got hurt. I’m sorry about that,” he said.
Before taking on the role of Drago, Dolph Lundgren was an engineering scholarship student at MIT. He says he began acting after a chance encounter with celebrities.
“I was in New York and went out with a singer. I ended up at [Studio] 54, meeting Andy Warhol, Michael Jackson and a few other people.”
“I did some modeling work, and then someone said: ‘You should try acting,’ because I was a European karate champion,” he continued on FOX & Friends.
Dolph Lundgren reprised the role of Ivan Drago in Creed II, a spin-off of the Rocky Balboa franchise.
