She pleaded guilty in 2023 to charges of stalking a minor after sending harassing messages over two years to her daughter, Lauryn, and Lauryn’s boyfriend, Owen McKenny.

“Unknown Number: The High School Catfish” also features interviews with Lauryn, Owen, and others involved in the case.

Kendra admitted that she sent messages encouraging her daughter to take her own life after Lauryn received messages from others questioning her relationship with Owen.

“It was a spiral. A kind of snowball effect. I think I didn’t know how to stop,” said the mother.

The director of “Unknown Number,” Skye Borgman, revealed that Kendra was interviewed for five hours and said that this was important to present the mother’s perspective.

“Hearing from her and hearing what her answers were was something I felt was really beneficial for the documentary,” says Borgman. “Considering whether these things are true or not, I can’t really judge 100%.”

“I felt that the clearest answers she gave were the ones that eventually made it into the documentary,” Borgman adds.

In “Unknown Number,” Kendra claims that she was in a “really bad mental place” and said that her own past trauma began to resurface as Lauryn got older.
