Demi Moore stated that Hollywood should not resist the advancement of artificial intelligence and argued that the entertainment industry should find ways to work alongside the technology instead of trying to fight it.
The statement was made during a press conference at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where the actress serves as a member of the official jury. According to her, fighting AI would be “a battle we are going to lose.”
Moore argued that artificial intelligence is already part of the reality of the film industry and that the most productive path would be to learn how to use it in a creative and collaborative way.
Even so, the star acknowledged concerns about the speed of technological advancement and admitted that Hollywood is “probably not” doing enough to protect artists and industry professionals.
Still, she said she believes true art remains something essentially human. “Things that come from the human soul and spirit cannot be replicated,” the actress stated during the event.
The debate over AI has dominated part of the discussions at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, especially after recent changes to Hollywood award rules involving productions that use artificial intelligence.
The Golden Globes, for example, announced that films and performances supported by AI may continue to be eligible for awards, as long as the work remains “derived primarily from the credited artist’s work.”
