Dan Rivera suddenly died while participating in the Devils on the Run tour, which featured the famous Annabelle doll that inspired the “The Conjuring” film franchise.
The paranormal investigator and U.S. Army veteran died on July 13 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, after completing three days of the tour.
Rivera was the lead investigator of the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), an organization founded by Ed and Lorraine Warren in 1952.
Emergency teams found Dan Rivera unconscious in his hotel room. Despite CPR attempts, he was not revived. Adams County coroner Francis Dutrow did not disclose the cause of death.

The investigator, born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, worked for over 10 years in paranormal investigations and also served as a consulting producer on Netflix’s “28 Days Haunted” series.
Dan Rivera was the godson of Lorraine Warren, who reportedly received the doll from a nursing student in 1968. Along with her husband, she claimed the doll moved on its own and even harmed people.
The NESPR said goodbye to their investigator in a condolence note.
“Dan Rivera believed in the power of sharing the unknown and educating through mystery. Even after his departure, his legacy remains among those who continue seeking answers in the supernatural.”
He is survived by his wife Sarah and four children.
