Channing Tatum revealed that turning down the role of the Beast in a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast is one of his biggest regrets.

The actor spoke about the matter during an interview with Vanity Fair last Tuesday (9). According to him, director Guillermo del Toro wanted to make a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast and invited Tatum to play the role of the Beast.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the right time for the actor, who had to decline the offer. “I had just had a baby, I was working on a film that was killing me, and the script wasn’t completely ready yet,” Tatum explained.

“I was in a place in my head where I thought: ‘I don’t think I can do this right now.’ It was the biggest mistake, because I’m the biggest Guillermo fan of all time. And I think Guillermo doing Beauty and the Beast would have been the coolest movie of all time.”

Tatum shares his 12-year-old daughter Everly with his ex, actress Jenna Dewan. The actor did not reveal which film was “completely killing him” at the time.

However, he made five films that year and three the year before, including the adaptation of 21 Jump Street and the film Magic Mike by Steven Soderbergh.
