In a video posted on his Instagram page, the pastry chef spoke about preparing for the final procedure to fix his right hand, which was impaled by a metal rod while Valastro was working on the pinsetter of the bowling alley in his home.
In his post, the TLC star showed his hand and explained that his tendon had healed on the opposite side of the joint, causing his fingers to bend to the right. Valastro, 47, even joked about the situation.
“I’m kind of like ‘Spock,’ and I don’t want to be,” he said. “The only problem from all my surgeries is that it’s hard for me to show my middle finger.”

A day later, the chef updated his fans with another post, thanking his doctors, fans for their messages of support, and showing that he was already ready to get back in the kitchen.
Filmed by his daughter Sophia, Valastro showed his bandaged hand while decorating a cake to celebrate his 24th wedding anniversary with his wife Lisa Valastro.
“I wanted Mom to know that even though I had hand surgery on our anniversary, I still did something for her,” he told his daughter.
“Thank you everyone for the kind messages and support you sent me this week,” he wrote in the caption.
“If I didn’t respond, please forgive me — I’ve only got one hand! I want to thank Dr. Carlson and everyone at the Hospital for Special Surgery for taking such good care of me. One surgery slowing me down??? Forget it!!” he joked.
