Bowen Yang, who shared a kiss with Ariana Grande during a sketch on Saturday Night Live that she recently hosted, apologized for the way he opened his mouth during the kiss.

“I really have to apologize to you personally,” began the 31-year-old actor during an episode of his podcast Las Culturistas, which he hosts with actor Matt Rogers, on Wednesday, November 6.

“I really opened my mouth too much when we kissed on SNL,” the comedian added, to which the singer agreed: “You definitely did. I was shaking afterwards. Not in a bad way. Just in a disarming way.”

Yang continued apologizing, but Grande reassured him that it was all fine. “We were thrown into that. It felt like what those characters needed in that moment. It felt like what those characters required. And I am totally for it.”

They then admitted that the kiss wasn’t even in the script. “When we rehearsed, I had a little… thought in my head. I didn’t say anything because I was like, ‘Everyone is going to think I’m completely insane and way too comfortable.’ But I thought, ‘How funny would it be if we kissed at the end?’” Grande shared.

Grande hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time in October after hosting the show for the first time in 2016. She said that she finds “comfort in knowing everyone” on set. “It’s such a safe and fun experience. It’s really fun, and I think I love comedy.”
