During the Sundance Film Festival, which took place last Sunday (26th), actor Bill Murray made an unexpected statement about his professional life.
In a conversation with critic Elvis Mitchell at the Sundance Film Festival, Bill Murray, 74, spoke about the current state of his career. The actor also admitted that he has caused some “trouble” behind the scenes in the past.
“I’ve been lazy. I don’t have an agent anymore, so I’m not the first person they think of for studio movies,” Murray commented, explaining why he has increasingly appeared in independent films like “Loving Adults” and “Riff Raff.”
“I’ve been living like a bottom feeder, waiting for something to drop down to me. If something falls into my mouth, I’ll eat it,” he confessed.
During the interview, Elvis Mitchell asked Murray about playing charming yet “poisonous” men.
“It’s always interesting when you play a guy who has caused some damage. I’ve done some damage myself,” Murray admitted. “In a way, it feels like penance to play them; to show that you take responsibility for it,” he continued.
Bill Murray was involved in a backstage controversy during the filming of “Being Mortal” in 2022. An assistant made complaints about the actor’s inappropriate behavior, which led to the film’s suspension.
“I did something I thought was funny, but it wasn’t taken that way. The studio wanted to do the right thing, so they decided to investigate and paused the production,” he explained.
