Actor André Braugher, a two-time Emmy winner known for his roles in Homicide: Life on the Street, Men of a Certain Age, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has died at the age of 61.

Braugher, whose first film role was alongside Matthew Broderick and Denzel Washington in Glory, directed by Ed Zwick, passed away on Monday after a brief illness.
Throughout eight seasons, Braugher portrayed the character Raymond Holt in the series Brooklyn Nine-Nine. For this role, he won the “Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” award and received four additional Emmy nominations.

In addition, Braugher was awarded the Emmy in 1998 for his performance in Homicide: Life on the Street and in 2006 for Thief.

His last significant role was in the series The Good Fight. On the big screen, his final work was the movie ‘She Said’.

Andre Braugher leaves behind his wife, Ami Brabso, and sons, Michael, Isaiah, and John Wesley.
