In a recent interview, the actress said that having appeared in a medical series helped her when she saved a man who had been stabbed.

During an appearance on the “Smartless” podcast, Amy Adams, 51, recalled the moment she helped a stabbing victim during a family outing in Santa Monica, California.

“I’ve come across a few scenes where we were the first to arrive,” the actress told hosts Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett. “These people were screaming and a guy was walking, and they were yelling, ‘He’s dying!’ And my husband said, ‘That’s blood!’”.

According to Adams, she, her husband, her daughter and her father were leaving a restaurant when it all happened and, upon realizing that the man had been stabbed in the neck, the actress and her father ran to help him.

“He was bleeding and his friends were panicking,” the actress said, explaining that in situations like that she tends to become extremely focused. According to Adams, she and her father, Richard Adams, a former serviceman who became a singer, used towels to stop the bleeding and she did everything she could to calm the victim.

Adams noted that her role in the TV medical series “Dr. Vegas”, in 2004, gave her some basic first-aid knowledge and that she asked the man to stay still and lie down so he would not bleed even more.

Like something out of a very happy movie ending, Adams later learned that the man had survived and, one year later, by pure coincidence, met him during dinner at a restaurant.

“A guy came up to me… and said: ‘I heard that you and your father were at the scene where a man was stabbed,'” she recalled.

Adams remembered that the man pointed to his neck and she simply exclaimed: “My God, it’s you! And it was him… he was very emotional and had his son beside him. It was unbelievable,” the actress said.
