A frozen yogurt chain in the United States, called 16 Handles, has launched a limited edition black yogurt made from squid ink, inspired by the Netflix series “Squid Game“.

The South Korean series, which became a phenomenon in 2021 with its story of deadly survival for cash prizes, now has a new product that turns consumers’ tongues black. The launch coincides with anticipation for the second season, which premieres in December.

In addition to the exclusive yogurt, the company has created a series of social media challenges for its customers. Those who participate in the “Black Tongue Challenge” can compete for cash prizes, including a $250 gift card. To participate, customers must visit one of the stores, try the yogurt, and post a selfie with the brand’s special filter on Instagram.

Other activities inspired by the games from the series, such as the Dalgona Cookie Challenge and a tug-of-war competition, are also taking place on 16 Handles’ digital platforms.

According to Neil Hershman, the company’s CEO, the launch aims to leverage the series’ popularity and provide a fun and engaging experience for fans.
