Al Green, a Democratic congressman representing Texas, called on people to join him and fight back after he was removed from the U.S. Capitol’s House of Representatives chamber on Tuesday (24).
During Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, Al Green stood in the main aisle of the chamber holding a sign that read: “Black people are not monkeys!”
The lawmaker’s action came after Donald Trump shared a video depicting Michelle and Barack Obama as monkeys, set to a song from the film “The Lion King.”
As Al Green was escorted out by security, some Republicans shouted: “USA!”
White House communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly that Al Green was a “complete loser who humiliates himself daily and demeans the office he holds in Congress.”

“He is not a serious person, and that’s why he does unserious things,” he added.
The congressman asked for support from his voters in the election taking place on March 3 in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
