Donald Trump was not at the residence at the time the suspect broke into his Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida. The incident occurred on Sunday (22).

The man was identified as Austin Tucker Martin, 21. He was shot and killed by Secret Service agents after allegedly pointing a weapon at officers on duty.

Donald Trump survived an attempt on his life in July 2024 during the 2024 election campaign. He was shot in the ear but did not suffer more serious injuries.

Commenting on the assassination attempts, the president said he believes he has been targeted because he is “consequential.”

“You read about all these crazy shooters, but they only go after consequential presidents. They don’t go after inconsequential presidents, you know?” he said on Tuesday (23) at the White House.

Trump was speaking at an event for families of victims of violent crimes.

“If you look at it, Abraham Lincoln — a great one, a very great one. John Kennedy, in a way, was also very consequential. He represented something very important,” he continued.
