Actor Barry Tubb, known for his role in “Top Gun” (1986), is suing Paramount Studios for unauthorized use of his image in “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022).

Tubb, who originally portrayed the character Wolfman in the film, appears in a photo on the wall of a bar in the sequel. He claims that his original contract did not include mentions of sequels, which would invalidate the use of his image in the latest film.

Tubb’s image in the sequel shows the characters from the original film gathered together and is displayed at a crucial moment in the plot.

The actor alleges that the producers of “Maverick” neither sought his permission nor compensated him for the use of his image. The amount of compensation has not been disclosed, but it is speculated to be significant, given the box office success of “Maverick,” which became one of the highest-grossing films post-pandemic, grossing approximately $1.48 billion.
